Basileus Corner

Greetings Brothers, Family and Friends,

I am extremely humbled to come to you as the Basileus of the Kappa Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. This Chapter has served the DC area nearly 95 years and will continue to do so as we hold on to our rich tradition in Omega.

This year we will expound upon the work the brothers put in last year as well as the steadfastness the chapter was founded on. We will strive to keep Fellowship the basis of this chapter with a diligent and unselfish commitment to the Washington D. C. community we serve.

We will also continue to work to accomplish specific projects to make the community better. This includes our mentoring program the DC Rhinos, the annual toy drive, assisting needing families, volunteering our time at shelters and donating apparel to the homeless, providing scholarships for seniors in high school, promoting health initiative, and helping women learn to defend themselves.

Please take a look around and enjoy the website. Continue to check our event page regularly for upcoming events the chapter will hold.

We appreciate and look forward to your ongoing support.

In Friendship,

Bro. Kevin D. Poplar, Sr.

KAPPA PSI CHAPTER FACTS

"DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA QUES!"

1926

On Friday, November 19, 1926, Kappa Psi was chartered as a chapter for professional and graduate students at Howard.

1947

Kappa Psi continued to serve the needs of professional and graduate students at Howard until 1938, when the chapter became inactive. In 1947, Brother Charles Williams, a law student at Howard University, revived Kappa Psi. The same needs that existed in 1926 and led to the formation of Kappa Psi also led to the chapter’s revival-fellowship and camaraderie with men of like backgrounds and equal goals.
